Making It Through The Holidays: Some Video Enjoyment

Okay, Okay, I know it has been forever, but please, it's the holidays for crying out loud. I will start megaposting again at the first of the year, or as Mega as I have time for. So to keep you busy until the new year, I am going to admit that I have been so off my A game lately, that I have not made any mention or brought to light the fact of our daytime storyline that has been unfolding over on As The World Turns. Maybe most of you are already full aware of this and need to reminders, but for the uninitiated, and for those that actually have a day job and no DVR, I am going to be posting the Luke and Noah storyline from beginning until last weeks "very special" christmas episode. For those who have been playing along, you may feel free to jump around and find the days you might have missed. For those new to the storyline of Luke and Noah, I stronglyl recommend that you start here from the beginning and watch each episode in order. I did, and I am glad, because it caught me up well. I have to give a HUGE shout out to "Blanenship", who has been making and archiving these over at his YouTube Site.

By now I am sure you are all very aware of my thinking that "Brothers and Sisters", over on ABC, is the best show around for both fun storylines in general and it's plot heavy real gay storylines. Well my friends, I have seen the light and ATWT has been doing a bang-up job at the gay relationship department, of course in a more daytime soapsy way. Happy Monday blogger friends!! I sit here relaxing over coffee and some live music in my favorite coffee and pastry shop, The Mocha House, and I am thinking about how life is good. I connected with some long lost friends in California over the weekend. I got to go to a great seminar on equality for all GLBT peoples. And I got to chill out and catch up on this weeks Ugly Betty and Greys Anatomy that I missed this week. Did you all know that Henry was that hot before this week? I mean, I knew he was handsome, and I had heard he had a great body, but DAMN!! I was so worked up last night I had to add whipped cream and hot chocolate to my grocery list this week. I am still lovin' Greys, but I am not sure if I want the on again, off again, on again, off again McDreamy and Meridith off again by the cute scrub nurse, who now seems to have a way with hospital electronics. Anyway, I am just saying.......great weekend!!

So "IN THE NEWS", I found this a little funny........Did you know that there is a chance we can turn Michael J. Fox gay?? Well, not really, but maybe his Meds for Parkinsons can. Does anybody find this as ridiculous as I do? Ahhhh the French.....cant live with them, cant call them Freedom Fries.......LOL.... Med's Made Him Gay......you gotta read this.

You all know that I love, Love, LOVE Rosie O'Donnell right? I know, I know, some of you can;t stand her, and thats all good, I just am one of the one that truly GETS her. I always have, and used to watch her at tapings of Star Search and Gimme A Break, back in L.A. (Yes I really am that old, how sad, lol) Anyway, my point in bringing this up is yet another self-serving shameless plug for a Christmas present. I hope you know that I bring these presents up in partial jest. I really do want everything I write about, but I dont ask or expect you dear blogger friends to get me anything ever. I do however have friends and spies on here who like to keep up with me and actually are in the present buying catagory for birthdays etc. And well, why let an opportunity pass you by, thats what I say!! So Rosie O' has found the joys of the new FLIP Video Recorder, and found that it's perfect for blogging and just her OCD in general. It looks like a blast and I really want one to experiment with some video blogs in the future. They are only around $120-$150 bucks, so am hoping Mama and Papa Guru are listening, because I am just too broke to pay attention right now, let alone by myself a present. Seriously folks, if you are looking for an inexpensive easy video camera thats great for home computer movies, or blogs, you gotta check it out, and if they have a 2 for 1 sale, send one to the GG...lol! Equality Ohio, MySpace Spam

Hey blogger friends!! I have literally just returned from a leadership conference in Columbus, Ohio for Equality Ohio. It was great meeting with various GLBT groups from all over the state to share ideas, learn about the goals for Ohio in 2008, and do some great fellowship and networking. I represented our Mahoning Valley Stonewall Democrats, and was really impressed by all the great work that Equality Ohio is doing and continues to do. Executive Director, Lynn, is a one woman dynamo who knows what she is talking about, and more importantly, knows how to create excitement, build consensus, and run an organization. Attorney General for the State of Ohio, Marc Dann, gave a keynote address, and fielded questions, and was great to see as a proud supporter of state diversity and inclusion. I really want to start exploring my activist roots again after I attend events such as these. We will see what the future holds for the Gay Guru.

Can I tell you all my one gripe since being back? MySpace Spam!!! For some reason, I dont remember so much spam coming through before when I was running the page. It seems that I am daily deleting 5-10 inbox messages at least that are trying to make you my friends, click thru to some sort of scheme or another. And friends requests?? At least it's pretty easy to pick the ones that are spam/porn, due to the fact that they are of very beautiful, voluptious woman who are asking the GAY guru that they are looking for people in my area to be friends or date, LOL. I guess it's a natural progression on a free networking space such as MySpace, but I cant help but be disappointed. How about telling me what you think Blogger Friends. Should I continue to sort thru all the spam as a necessary evil to talk to you, all of my legitimate MySpace friends, or should I forget MySpace altogether and just have you check out the www.MyGayGuru(dot)blogspot(dot)com Share with me your thoughts blogger friends. Maybe I should go back to a 1-5 page website and skip MySpace.

TODAY IS WORLD AIDS DAY!

World AIDS Day was originally organised by UNAIDS, who chose the theme after consultation with other organisations. In 2005 UNAIDS handed over responsibility for World AIDS Day to an independent organisation known as The World AIDS Campaign (WAC).

The WAC’s slogan for their work is "Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise". This is an appeal to governments, policy makers and regional health authorities to ensure that they meet the many targets that have been set in the fight against HIV and AIDS, and especially the promise of universal access to HIV treatment, care, support and prevention services by 2010. This campaign will run until 2010, with a related theme chosen for World AIDS Day each year.

The 2007 theme, “leadership”, highlights the need for innovation, vision and perseverance in the face of the AIDS challenge. The campaign calls on all sectors of society such as families, communities and civil society organisations - rather than just governments - to take the initiative and provide leadership on AIDS.

THE RED RIBBON

The red ribbon is an international symbol of AIDS awareness that is worn by people all year round and particularly around World AIDS Day to demonstrate care and concern about HIV and AIDS, and to remind others of the need for their support and commitment.

The red ribbon started as a "grass roots" effort; as a result there is no one official AIDS ribbon manufacturer, and many people make their own. It's easily done - just use some ordinary red ribbon and a safety pin!

WHAT CAN I DO TO SUPPORT WORLD AIDS DAY?

There are many ways in which you can support World AIDS Day. For example:

Raise awareness of HIV and AIDS in your area
Wear a red ribbon and ask others to do the same
Sign up as a supporter of the Stop AIDS in Children campaign
Protect yourself and your partners - this is the first and best way to stop the spread of HIV
If you are worried - get tested

At school or work, you can support World AIDS Day by:

Having a dressing up, down or fancy dress day
Putting up some posters - get people talking
Making and selling red ribbons
Organising a creative writing/poster campaign
Setting up a debate or a quiz - there are lots of ideas for topics on our site
Cooking an international meal or having a cake sale
Arranging a sponsored three-legged race or balloon release
Getting your friends, family, colleagues or pupils to express their feelings and expand their knowledge about AIDS

Ahhhh, this was nice, a couple days off to get some stuff done, and no angry emails or peoples thinking I skipped town again, lol. So as the first weekend of December is upon us, I figured I might as well decorate the house and tree the last couple of nights. Come to think of it, I have been so busy, these are the first ball's I have played with in a while, ummm, christmas balls I mean, ummm, ornaments! Are you all getting decorated for the holiday? Or am I the last one as usual, and thats how you spent your time instead of football after Thanksgiving? I moved into a new apartment since I last posted, (another story for another time,) and I decided that I would break out the artificial tree this year, since my living room carpeting is kinda hi-low and would be a witch to get the dried needles out of later. Of course I should just post a picture of the darn thing, but I havent taken any pictures yet. I will get around to that this weekend I guess.

So I feel a little guilty that I said I would make Wednesdays "Hump Day Wednesdays" again this time back, but as I said, oooops, I got busy. Lets try to make it up to you with this little funny video I found on my surfing travels. I have been working with my Stonewall Democrat group in a petition drive to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" This is not a Democrat or a Republican issue, it's an equal rights issue, and something you should definitely be concerned with. We will be presenting it to Tim Ryan, our House Representative, very soon. I hope if you happen to be a reader of the GG who is a serviceman or woman, or you know someone who is, and you are gay, please go to the site above and submit your picture.

So I am still getting in the holiday spirit, and I never get bored of giving you gift ideas for lil ol' me. I told you about the "Hairspray" movie that I am hoping for, and I just found the next thing on my list. I just read that a Company Markets Larry Craig 'I'm Not Gay' Action Doll. The doll, which stands about 12 inches tall, wears a T-shirt with his now famous "I am not gay" pronouncement. Craig, who has voted throughout his career against every LGBT measure that came before the Senate, in a news conference shortly after news of his arrest became public said "I am not gay. I have never been gay." Stupid.com offers a range other 'unusual' Christmas gifts including a Bush countdown key chain and the Hillary Clinton nutcracker.

Pets Not Partners, My Two Moms, Out Top 100

Hey there blogger friends. Just a couple quick things that caught my eye today. I hope you all know that despite Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale and the Keyes, Florida is still one of the most homophobic states around when it comes to gay rights. Blogger friend Rosie O'Donnell brought it glaringly to light when she had to let friends adopt the foster girl she had brought into her home, (called Mia at the time,) because gays can be foster parents in Florida, but cannot adopt. It unfortunately comes as no shock to me today, that a Florida College Approves Medical Plans For Employee's Pets, Denies Benefits For Domestic Partners. C'mon now, really?? Although I do think that PETA is a little whacked in the head most of the time anyway, but insurance for employee's pets before an employee's lover? Somethings are just too crazy even for me.

On a brighter note however in the Bible Belt of the country, Omaha, Nebraska, we have a Cartoon That Features Two Moms. "Buddy G - My Two Moms and Me" a five year old boy named Buddy who loves science and solves daily problems with the help of his sidekick "Socrates," an armband computer with Internet capabilities The series was created by Margaux and Donna Towne-Colley who say it was inspired by the birth of their own son The premiere DVD can be ordered from the cartoon's website: http://buddyg.tv and retails for $10.00.

While enjoying my weekly Barnes and Noble Latte on Sunday, I did have the chance to peruse OUT magazine and it's annual Top 100 Out Peoples, or some such thing. It was a good read, although moi was not included, those damn hiatus' seem to knock you out of the running everytime, ah well, I digress. Anywho, I was happy to know a couple of those included, like Andy Cohen of Bravo, ( okay, so I dont know him-know him, but we have exchanged pleasant emails), and a scribe and a songbird, (you can figure those friends out on your own). There are a few I wanted to know more about, so I picked up the zine and will make some inquiries. Who knows, maybe I will have an OUT 100 up for cyber tea and a lil old interview or something. Back In The Saddle, The Gay Guru Rides Again

Two days in a row, a very good sign. First a big THANK YOU to all who have sent nice thoughts and wishes on my return. I have missed all of you as well, or I would not have decided to come back. I have been perusing some of your blogs, sites, etc. and it seems as though you all have been busy while I was gone, LOL. I am looking forward to the ride again, and hopefully take you on an exciting and informative journey as well.

So one of the things that kept me busy on my hiatus from the GG blog, was my membership in the Stonewall Democrats. As most of you know, I am a political junkie, who happens to be Democrat with some Independent leanings as well. The Stonewall Democrats is a great organization that keeps me informed of the GLBT issues before Congress, and at the local level, it keeps me up to date on friends and foes in the immediate area of the Home State here in NE Ohio. One of things I am currently watching, is New Hampshire. Of course known as an early bellwether primary state that lets it's voters vote along ANY party lines, it could prove a bit interesting in that, New Hampshire is Preparing For Civil Unions. Civil Unions will be come legal in the state January. Couples entering civil unions will have the same rights, responsibilities and obligations as married couples. Same-sex unions from other states also would be recognized if they were legal in the state where they were performed A new license has been created for civil unions and will be available at local clerk's offices in towns and cities across the state.

Looking for the perfect gift for the Gay Guru this holiday season, or anyone else that needs some sheer fun or a change in their bigoted attitudes? How about the recently released DVD of "Hairspray" the movie musical. I gotta tell you, if you havent seen this movie yet, what the heck are you waiting for?? The movie has something for everyone, and the DVD is packed full of extras, amost 2 extra hours worth, (plus more if you buy it at Walmart.) For those looking for the gay experience, you gotta cast crammed full of the who's who of whispered about actors that are supposedly gay. John Travolta drags it up as bigger than life mama Edna Turnbladt. Queen Latifah shows us her rhythm and blues as Motormouth MaeBell. Cutie and a half Zac Efron as Linc Larkin. If you are not familiar with the plot of the movie, Tracy Turnbladt is a big girl with big hair and a passion for dancing. Her dream of dancing on Baltimore's local "Corny Collins Show", comes true, but also opens her eyes to the racial bigotry of the time and the age old prejudice of chubby people and those that are "different". Through lots of singing and dancing, Tracy takes on "the man", and tries to bring integration to the baltimore dance scene. You gotta get this DVD, and if you get an extra, send it over GG's way, I'll be a happy camper, lol.

There's A Rumble In The Blogosphere

What was that sound? Was it thunder, is there a storm a comin'? Was it a big burp from the second helpings of Thanksgiving Dinner and Leftovers, heard around the country? Or was it just a little rumble in the blogosphere, as a long, lost blogger returns? Time will tell..............

There was a comeback promised once before that never really happened before it ended. Can this Gay Guru guy be trusted? Is he just a flash in the pan who likes to throw his weight around every once in a while? Will he disappear into the netherworld again with nary a look back at his cyber friends and buddies he made along the way?

The answers my friends, are blowing in the wind, the answers are blowing in the wind. A rumbling has come inside me that says that I can do this, that i SHOULD do this. The first time around was pretty succesful. Maybe too succesful that it got a bit overwhelming the responsibilities that came with it. The second time around was a hiccup. An anniversary look thru rose-colored glasses at the first time and then getting cold feet really fast as soon as the toe was dipped back into the pool. This time I think it will be different. Third time's the charm and all of that stuff. I've grown a bit older, a bit wiser, and a bit bigger around the belly, (damn that good Midwest cooking!)

There will be no trifecta this time. The Gay Guru website will not be put back into commission at this time. There are no plans for it's immediate future either. I think it was the proverbial straw that broke this camel's back. Too much updating all the time between the blog, the Myspace page, the website, and did I really try to start an adult "After Dark" version...jeeeeeesh! This time it will be this blog, and this Myspace. There will be no timetable of posting. There will be feast and famine, but I promise no famine longer than a week. I might post a couple of times in one day, and maybe sometimes once a week, but I think I still have a lot to say.

I am hoping that this will come back heading in 2 strong directions, Information/Opinion and Advice/Resources. I am still an avid news junkie, and I read some blogs with regularity, and I definitely will be posting with events and my comments on said events that interest me. One of the things that got me looking around the Gay Blogosphere again was the BratboySchool Controversy. It is primarily over, but I was sure wishing I had a forum to comment on that debacle. I also want for the Gay Guru to be a place you can come to for advice and get resources on your questions regarding GLBT culture. This comes tugging at me from the coming political season, ENDA, a gay teenagers suicide, and a feeling of debt to the community.

I am asking for a third chance blogger friends, and I may or may not deserve it, but I am going to push ahead anyway. Those that were hurt at my abrupt departures, I understand and am sorry, but I wont dwell on the past. Please welcome me back with open arms, or exercise your right and ask me to remove you from any friends list, or whatever you need for closure. For new blogger friends, thanx for inviting me into your life and lifestyle and lets start a new journey. 2008 is just around the corner and there is nothing like a good ending of a decade to get out there and make some noise and shout for GLBT rights and responsibilities.

I literally have not really looked at this site in the past 6 months much. I am sure there are going to be some broken links on it and I will have to redo the blogrolls to the right. Please give me some time to do that, but within a week or so, I will hopefully find out who's still around, who's not, and who wants to keep the links going.

OH! I almost forgot, lets start out slow with some "Humpday Hotties" and bring back the hot boys I used to find around the Internet and such, not quite every day yet, lets start with Humpday Wednesdays. Playing Hookie from Packing, Intern Day, Day of Silence, In The News, Cuties

So here's the deal, I could either be packing for my move this fine Friday evening, or contemplating life at a new coffee shop with my trusty laptop once again. Guess which won? LOL! I remember the days when I was restaurant managing and I would get transferred around a lot, (yes I was just that good that EVERYONE wanted me to manage their restaurant), and they used to pay for the movers who would even pack for you!! I miss those days. Of course they would pack EVERYTHING. If you left trash in a trashcan, it would get packed with the rest. I learned that the hard way once.

Intern Interview day went very well today, and out of the 11 that I interviewed, I am bringing back 4 for second interviews at the studio next week. I am nervous about two of them. One is a very beautiful girl, great personality, seems like a hard worker. Have I mentioned that at my production company all the employees are male, and most under 28. I am not sure how the guys would handle having a female Intern around. It really could turn into a Bill Clinton thing, lol. The other one I am a bit nervous about is a very good looking boy, great personality, seems like he could sell ice to Eskimo's, so would be good for the posiition. My nervousness with him, is maybe I was a bit smitten with him, and there were some alarms going off about him, that he was waaaaayyyyy too much a yes man, and is probably full of sh*t. However, even if that is the case, he does have that charm that could sell if I put him in the Sales and Marketing Intern position I am hiring for. What to do, What to do!!

I am giving you all a little reminder now, and I will be blogging about it on Tuesday, but on Wednesday, April 18th, is again, the "National Day of Silence" in our schools. I will blog more about it on Tuesday, but just know it's where students are to remain silent all day in school in solidarity of GLBT rights. It has been celebrated on campus's across America, and while still controversial, it HAS raised awareness. If you have or know a supportive family member or friend, who is going to school, please look up this movement, or read my post on Tuesday, and invite them to do the same.

Thursday in The Coffee Shop, Dont Ask Dont Tell, Captured Cuties

Hello Blogger friends, I hope you have all put away the Easter candy and are moving along towards the Memorial Day Picnic, lol. I am sitting here, sipping my newfound fave, pomegranite hot tea from the Republic of Tea, at one of the local coffee houses. Yes boys and girls, and probably more boys, lol, I finally have access to the dreaded laptop. Does this portend much more blogging and keeping in touch from the local "hot spots", or does it simply mean I am going to get even more chubby by sipping on cappucino's and eating pastries and muffins? Only time and the waistline of my pants will know for sure.

So during my absence, I decided to try to make a difference by joining the local Stonewall Democrats club, here in my area of NE Ohio. If you ever wanna find out more about it, you can check out www.mvstonewall.com. One of our current goals is to get a bunch of signatures to present to our local Congressman, to begin the repeal process of "Dont Ask, Dont Tell," and permit gays to serve in the military. Have you realized that since the Iraq war started, the number of gays thrown out of the army has gone from an average of 1000 per year, to less than 600? Seems now that they need us, they dont have the time to prosecute and court martial, and the hetero's can somehow servive serving next to a homosexual soldier. This petition is just to give information to our Congressman and is non-binding and therefore not necessarily have to be signed by only registered voters in our county. If any of you want to bring a petition to your local gay organization, club or bar, let me know and I will email one for you to print out and you can make copies, fill it out and send it back to me. We deserve to be the few and the proud ourselves if that is what we believe in!!

Nice To Take a Day Off, and The Return of Captured Cuties

Aaaaahhhhh!! Missed a day of posting and all is right with the world. I think my new attitude and the support of all my cyber blogger friends will keep this going for a long, long time. I will start to get you all back into the going's on in my life a little bit at a time, as I have time to retell the tales. Work is going well, still at the production company, and am practically running the whole damn place. Love life is at a standstill yet again, but don't cry for me Argentina, all is well with the world and Mr Right is out there somewhere.

I got the hint from the poll results and quite a few emails, and the beautiful boys are here to stay. Maybe not every post, but in most of them for sure. I am going to TRY to bring back my idea I tried to sell before and offer "Captured Cuties" and "Original Sin". To remind you all, "Captured Cuties," are just some hot guys I find on the Internet, either thru visiting friends blogs, or websites, or models from stores I visit or whatever. I claim no copyright to any captured cutie image, and if you DO own the copyright, please send me an email with proof, and I will remove it immediately. I will also provide linking info to where I found the image if at all possible......"Original Sin", is my attempt to get YOU, my blogger friends and readers to send in your own pictures that hopefully have not been on the net yet, that you are proud to show-off. Just a quick note to say thanx for the warm welcome back and I hope you are all having a great Easter weekend. As usual, I am with Mama and Papa Guru with feast-a-plenty, including ham, cranberry jewel salad, cauliflower in cheese sauce, fresh baked croissants, white chocolate dipped strawberries, plain strawberries, and homemade blueberry pie. Not having Easter dinner? Bet I just made you pretty darn hungry, LOL. More to come as I ease back into this blog and what I want to do with it, but let's at least get back to one important announcement that was "In The News" this weekend........

Disney Opens Fairy Tale Wedding Service To Gay Commitment Ceremonies.....The Walt Disney Co. has changed its popular Fairy Tale Wedding program to allow for commitment ceremonies between same-sex couples. Disney had previously limited access to the program to couples with a valid marriage license. Ceremonies are offered at Disneyland in California and at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, as well as on Disney's cruise ships. Packages include flowers, dining, music and other extras, depending on the location. Walt Disney World has a dedicated wedding pavilion and for an extra fee, couples can exchange vows in front of the park's iconic attractions, including Cinderella's castle. The tide is slowly turning boys and girls, and it seems like just yesterday that me and my boyfriend back in college had to find discreet places to make out, while exploring Tom Sawyers Island at the California original Disneyland. Now I can call him "Princess", and mean it in Cinderella's castle, LOL.

Okay, so where do I begin to start, to appologize, and to make ammends for disappearing off the face of the earth? How about beginning with why I decided to come back, and why come back today. Well, today, April 7th, was my first official post as I started the Gay Guru adventure exactly one year ago today. It was the beginning of my quest to see if one gay man could make a difference by trying to provide information, commentary, ask questions, and hopefully provide a little humor along the way. To see how mind blowing boring I was as I first started out, HERE is my very first post, one year ago today. Scary isn't it? I have hopefully deluded myself into thinking that I had gotten a little better along the way, but the jury is still out on that one.

So that should clear up why I started back up today, but why I started back up at all is another story entirely. I guess it has to go back to why the heck I stopped in the first place, and why did I stop without a peep to anyone, especially my fantastic friends I made along my journey like SoCalGal, Mikey, Marko, Leonard, WAT, Bruce, and a whole host of others that will make this waaaaay too long of a post if I went on, but suffice it to say, I know I left a lot of good cyber friends hanging. The answer is, there is no good answer! I had one heartache, and a huge feeling of overwhelmingness, and a dash of self-pity that what I write/wrote does not really make a bit of a difference in the world, when bloggers who simply use sex appeal and superfulousness, seem to get all of the attention and readers anyway.

The heartache is not ready to be shared as of yet, but let's just say it was bad and threw me into a mini-depression that I couldn't fight out of for a while. The feeling of overwhelmingness came from a bunch of places, obviously. I had the new job at the production studio that was taking a lot of my time, and caused a bit of grief in the pay department, where I have not really recovered yet, but am getting closer every day. I had a living situation that was getting worse by the day, which I continued to live with until I FINALLY put in my 30 days notice April 1st, and found a new, better place to live. I felt the pressure of the Gay Guru website, and not being able to update it as I feel it needed to be, and what I wanted it to be, so I was feeling a failure at that. I had that huge blow-up with my best friend that I told you all about, and it was eating away at me, not being able to talk to him about stuff. And finally, on my road trip to help save Davey's Basement from closing, my friend and I had a minor emergency with his family and had to turn around half way there, and I wasnt able to fulfill my promise to Teri, and was feeling really bad about that. I also learned that they didnt make much money and it wasnt a huge turnout, so I felt guilty about that, and it led to a bit of my feeling that this blog just didnt matter. So that and some more minor things, put me into a major shut-down mode that was hard to share and come out of with my cyber friends and blogger buddies.

As for the appology, I am truly sorry that I let me friends, fans, and fellow bloggers down, and I will try to not ever let it happen again. This was a very enlightening and well spent 3 months off, and I hope to come back energized, refreshed, dedicated, and ready for the challenges and accomplishments that lie ahead. To be truthful, I just decided this morning that today was the day I was going to come back to the blogosphere. Anniversary date or not, I wasnt sure I was going to do this, although I have thought about it for the last few weeks. As I sat at the computer this morning, it just felt right to start back again. I am really kind of playing it by ear, much like when I started out, I am not sure what direction I am going to take with this blog. For sure, the website is not coming back yet, if at all. Until I can devote time to making sure it is constantly updated, or can find friends who are willing to help make that happen, I am not ready to make that commitment yet. I am not yet going to promise that I will be writing a new post for this blog daily, but I still do have a lot to say, and a lot that I think needs to be talked about, so we will see with that as well. Once again I ask you, what readers I have left, and what readers are hopefully yet to come, what would you like to see from this blog, and what brought you or still brings you here anyway? My goal is to still bring information, commentary, questions and humor, but do I want to do it as a national/local forum, or do I want to do it all personal opinion and not bring general information to the site. I am going to have to take some time to update my links, as I have not read much while I have been gone as well. I am not sure if all of my links are still working and if the blogs are still going. Hopefully, I will have that done in the next week or so. New Series Coming to HERE TV! Lite Blogging Ahead

Hey blogger friends! The snow has finally found it's way back to NE Ohio, and I was sorta hoping we could skip Winter this year, dangit!! I got an email from my friend John over at HERE TV!, talking about the new television show, where they just finished wrapping it's innaugeral 6 episode season. It's called "The Lair" and is scheduled for a Spring 2007 premiere. Set in a small coastal town, The Lair opens as the bodies of young nameless men are turning up dead with vicious wounds to their necks. A young journalist is investigating a series of mysterious John Doe murders. Clues to these crimes lead him directly to a private gentlemen's club called The Lair, where the deepest, darkest desires are fulfilled. As he gets closer to solving the mystery, Thom finds himself ensnared in a blood thirsty coven of vampires. The Lair stars Peter Stickles, who gathered a following this year from his work in the acclaimed indie Shortbus, as Damian, the leader of the coven of gay vampires, as well as newcomer David Moretti, who takes the lead as Thom. With a strong, talented cast, HERETV! is pleased to add "The Lair" as another original scripted series to our growing slate of projects. Programming on the network, runs the gamut from sexy soap operas to thought-provoking documentaries, and The Lair is a welcome addition to that line up. The Lair is the latest project reflecting HERETV's commitment to bring fresh original programming to the LGBT community.

This week is kinda slammed for me boys and girls, I have a huge open house that I have organized for the studio to get our name out there, the mayor, a congressman, and some heavy officials who can use our services in the future are going to be there, so I need to get everything organized down to the last details. Jake Gyllenhal: Saturday Night Dreamgirl, Win One/Lose One on TV

Good Morning Blogger Friends and Readers. Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was busy getting things done so I can go on my roadtrip next weekend to help save Daveys Basement. If you have not been to the gossip blogs this weekend, you may be one of the 4 people who havent seen Jake Gyllenhal's opening bit on Saturday Night Live this past Saturday. I gotta say a couple of things; first, that was no mocking, that was pure comedy and a big shout out to his gay fans. It seems Jake is humble enough to know that he is starting to shoot thru the roof right now, BECAUSE of the support of our GLBT community. He is also fearless, to pull that skit off with no timidness or afraid to show his stuff, in drag, or whatever, is someone who is very comfortable with himself. And third, the notes werent always there, but more were on than off, and he was pushing it to the back of the building. If he can reasonably sing a tune that well as needed, I think we need to sign him up for "Brokeback The Musical"!! Hey, it could happen, lol.........

We Win One, and We Lose One! On TV last night, we lost one of the two gay candidates in DT's Apprentice. Somehow, Carey thought about 5 inches of pink paisley fabric was going to make a "fabulous" mens swim trunk. He was able to channel his inner porn version of Issac Miszrahi, or whatever the heck, and was happy as a little princess, but it helped his team lose the task. Back to the tents with them. And next week, all but one are back to the tents AGAIN, because DT gave the winning team a pass next week and the losers all have to compete individually against each other next week.

Last night on Brothers and Sisters, we won BIG time. Hottie Jason Lewis showed up as a closeted soap star who Kevin meets in the gym. It was pretty out there as his character really pursues Kevin hardcore, but then pulls the "girlfriend" card at just the right times to keep him guessing. Should be an interesting storyline, and hey, we got another same sex couple kiss, no big deal on a major network in primetime again, you gotta love that!! More later friends..........GG

Inaugeration Balls (don't think so dirty), Road Trip To Daveys Basement On Film, In The News, TV Tonight

Hey Blogger Friends and Readers, I am sorry to be away, but I do not have remote blogging capability as of yet, and I have been off to the State Capitol the last couple of days!! It was a big election this year in Ohio, as well as the rest of the country. For the first time in 16 years, the Democrats have taken back the Major elective offices of the state; Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, and Treasurer have all swept the elections with the exception of State Auditor, but it's good to have the opposing party looking over the books while you are in office.

Any whoooo, I was invited very last minute to attend the innaugeral balls, (now doesnt that sound like something a gay congressmen could get impeached for, lol,) and had to make my way to Columbus, Ohio. It was a fantastic time, and I will post pictures when I get some. Here's the deal friends, the reason I dont bring my own camera to these events usually, is that I am VERY forgetful in my old age, lol, and end up leaving my camera, or other important things there, if they dont fit in my pocket. The pictures from PRIDE last year in Cleveland were no exception, I lost my camera once, but thank goodness friends were playing a trick on me, and had it.

However, I was able to talk my boss at the production studio, into coming with me next weekend to the "BREAK THE BOYCOTT" benefit for Davey's Basement, next week. He offered to bring a couple of camera's that HE will be responsible for, LOL, so I can have some fun interviews and pictures and even videos to post here and on the website. According to Terri, you my loyal and AWESOME reader friends have done most of the donating so far. You can still help out the cause and make a donation, or buy something off the Davey's Basement website, and help save the store. If you are able to get to Lansing, Michigan next Saturday, the 20th of January, come visit the Gay Guru, Live, In Person, and help out a great cause.

There's been some interesting things, IN THE NEWS.............in typical WTF are you thinking in the Democrats, Gay Foe To Lead Centrist Democratic Wing; money, AND he wears a uniform, how hot is that?, Gay Cop Wins $450K in Bias Suit; now didnt the supreme court of Jersey say it "cannot discriminate based on homosexuality"?, Churches Exempt From NJ Civil Union Law AG Says; if it wasnt for the water, maybe we should illegally immigrate over there, 2nd Mexico State OKs Civil Unions; you gotta love those conservative's, i mean, really, you gotta, someone has to, they're idiots, Miami Mayor Under Fire For Pro Gay Comments; and finally, a gay waiter in NYC, really? who would have thought?, Gay Waiter Accuses Exclusive NYC Restaurant With Discrimination.

Tonight is my favorite television show, "Brothers and Sisters", at 10pm on ABC. If you STILL havent heard me gush enough about this show, and havent seen it yet, go check out the past episodes at ABC.com. You will be glad you did. If you are looking for a fun, easy drama with a positive gay character, this is the one. Tonight, our favorite gay Kevin meets his new love interest, the "closeted gay soap star" tonight. Oh, and did I mention, the soap star is played by the hot-as-hell Jason Lewis!! Should be some interesting TV. And of course, Rob Lowe has joined the cast as well, BONUS!! Dont ring my phone from 10-11pm blogger friends, LOL.

I have to admit the premiere of "You're The One That I Want", last week, where they are searching for the new leads for an upcoming Broadway produciton of "Grease", was not the most riveting casting calls. It was totally American Idol formulaic, but was just a little flat. Maybe when they actually get down to the final 12 and we start voting them out it will get more exciting, but I think I am back to crying with "Extreme Home Makeover" tonight instead.

21,500 More Troops, Dont Ask, Don't Tell, Wayne Besen on Mitt Romney

21,500! A war fought on false pretenses, a very bad man running the country, but false pretenses for going to war all the same. We have claimed victory, (landing on the air craft carrier,) or "turned the corner", (with the democratic government in place, we have turned a corner in Iraq,) more times than a grieving soldiers family should have to bare. Of course if we question our President's judgement, we are asked, "Do you want to lose this war?", when that very option may not be possible. I am no general or commander in chief, but dont you build up your forces when you go INTO a war, and not 4 years later? As Colin Powell has said, this really isn't a troop build up at all, a surge is accurate, because there are no troops to build up. This is taking those scheduled to go into Iraq on the next rotation, and putting them in earlier, and those scheduled to leave Iraq, will now stay longer, and not be allowed to come home. Well, maybe not in the conventional way, sigh! If you look at the stats, 21,500 is not really a build up, but more of a replacement. We have had over 3,000 killed, and 18,000 is probably close to the number wounded, lots permanently, since this all began. Do I want this to work? Of course!! But the track record is not so good, and I am afraid of the chances of more getting hurt. President Bush, you will take your last, best shot, and for the country's sake, I hope it works. But if it doesnt, Please don't embarrass us any longer with your pitiful stances on gay marriage, stem cell research, a woman's right to choose. You will have lost ALL credibility sir, and you have been hanging by a thread with what's left of your credibility for a long time. God Bless The USA, and bring our troops back safe!!

On a related note, the rumor mill has been swirling about the eventual repeal of "Dont Ask, Dont Tell." We had a lively discussion about this the other night, and here are some of the highlights....On the one side, friends are saying that this is a plot. That they are talking or repealing the law because of the lack of troops and they just want to put us gay's in harms way, as the army and marines shrink. They think that it will be put back in place after the war is over. My feelings are that we need to be united in this and not send out mixed messages. If we are asking for equal status, in marriage, or any other type of institution, we must be consistent and ask for equality in joining the armes services, adoption, foster care, and anywhere else we are being discriminated against. Whether it is politically or strategically motivated or not, repealling the "Dont Ask" law is necessary in order to quash discrimination. Our tough and talented and politcally active youth members of "SoulForce", have been getting themselves arrested for protesting outside of recruiting stations that wont take their applications, after they proudly let them know that they happen to be gay. Don't let their actions be for no reason. It is time to let those brave GLBT men and women who want to serve their country, be allowed, no matter what the state of the country is in, war or not. Equality does not mean just in the best of situations, it's in the trying times of war as well.

And finally, while I am in a political mood this morning, Here is an expose on a Presidential Wannabee, Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachussetts, the only state where gay marriage is legal, so you think he would be a little more tolerant.....WRONG!! "In my mind, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is the most unacceptable presidential candidate in the 2008 race. He is a fair-weather phony that will say or do anything to get elected. In short, he is a poster-boy for everything wrong with politics and represents the reason many people stay home instead of heading to the polls on Election Day.

On the surface, Romney appears to be a strong candidate. He is articulate, looks presidential and was elected governor of a liberal state. He turned state deficits into surpluses and helped pass an innovative healthcare plan in Massachusetts.

Even with his impressive resume and stature, Romney has an uphill battle for the Oval Office because he is a Mormon. Polls show that nearly 4 out of 10 Americans would not vote for a person of this religious persuasion. In order to offset this baggage, Romney’s strategy is to sandbag gay people.

The legalization of equal marriage rights in Massachusetts has offered Romney a perfect platform to pretend he is a right wing ideologue. Last year, he courted noted fundamentalist leaders and reportedly met with Franklin Graham, Jerry Falwell and Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Romney also embarked on a self-serving, stomach-turning tour of southern states, where the sitting governor showed remarkable disloyalty by unabashedly bashing Massachusetts. To warm up conservative audiences, Mitt used one-liners such as, "Being a conservative Republican in Massachusetts," he told a GOP audience in South Carolina, "is a bit like being a cattle rancher at a vegetarian convention."

But Romney’s gesture made him look like a jester whose comedic talents as the Bay State buffoon were only surpassed months later by Sen. John Kerry’s crack about our troops in Iraq on the dawn of a midterm election.

Of course, if the Mormon issue does not sink Romney, the moron issue likely will. The undeniable fact is that Mitt is full of it. Like the quintessential snake oil salesman, he changes his sales pitch depending on what audience he is addressing. He seems tragically unaware that satellites and the Internet have been invented and what he says in Red States can be viewed instantaneously in Blue States.

For example, while speaking to the rabidly conservative crowd in South Carolina, Romney flat-out lied about his own stance on gay marriage - erroneously claiming that he has opposed civil unions "from day one". According to an article in the Boston Herald, Mitt had for months backed a constitutional amendment, which would ban same-sex marriage while allowing Vermont-like civil unions.

Such duplicity on gay rights has become a hallmark of Romney’s. In Bay Windows, New England’s largest gay publication, Susan Ryan-Vollmar highlighted Mitt’s metamorphosis. The protean pol pandered for gay votes until he thought it was more advantageous to pound gay voters in his bid for the presidency.

In 1994, when he was running against Ted Kennedy in his bid for U.S. Senate, Romney wrote a flowery letter to the Massachusetts Log Cabin Club saying "we seek to establish full equality for American gay and lesbian citizens, I will provide more effective leadership than my opponent."

In his successful governors race in 2002, Romney and his running mate, Kerry Healey, distributed pink fliers at a Gay Pride parade, proclaiming, "Mitt and Kerry wish you a great Pride weekend."

You have to hand it to Romney for Chutzpah. He thinks he can sound like Harvey Milk for a decade and then pivot in an election year and milk votes from the Falwell crowd. Sadly, his political calculations may be correct. This is why it is up to the GLBT community to derail Romney’s campaign. However, we have to be smart about it. Paradoxically, the more the gay community denounces Romney, the more viable he looks to voters in South Carolina.

I have a solution. An enterprising activist should start a web campaign, www.RomneyLovesGays.com. The site should list his campaign appearances across the nation so local activists can mobilize and show up at his events. However, instead of calling him a hypocrite, we should call him a hero.

I can’t think of anything that would sabotage his campaign more than gay activists thanking him at campaign rallies for his efforts to outflank Ted Kennedy on gay rights. The signs held by activists at these events should read “Gays Love Mitt” or ‘Thanks for your Support” and contain large rainbows or pink triangles.

The more love we show for Romney, the more the right will love to hate him. Ironically, Romney can bring Falwell and gay people together with both sides saying “Amen” to the concept that character matters for a would-be president."

Award Season, Captured Cuties

Award season has begun again blogger friends and readers. Queen Latifah and company were rocking it at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. tonight. I have to admit, I usually LOVE awards shows. Some can be pretty lame, but the chance to dress up for the night, have a blast hob nobbing with the rich and famous, (or I guess your friends and aquaintances if you ARE rich and famous). I used to go to the awards shows a lot when I lived in L.A. They use "seat fillers" so that the auditorium always looks full. My friend was a coordinator for the Comedy Awards and the Peoples Choice, but he got to send people to the Acadamy Awards and the Emmys. The thing is, that you are constantly moving around the theatre while stars go backstage to present an award, or after they win one. You usually end up sitting next to "so and so's" husband/wife/etc, or next to another star. The bonus of knowing the coordinator, is that he knew what stars were going to be last minute no-shows, and we would get to sit in the same place throughout the night. One night comedy award night, I got to sit at the "saturday night live table" when dana carvey couldnt be there last minute. Another night I sat next to Valerie Harper,(Rhoda), all night long. Both times were fantastic.

It gets me thinking though why we dont try to have our own awards show for gay filmaking. I mean, I guess we do with the "spirit" awards for independent movies, and film festivals, but wouldn't it be kinda kewl to have our own awards show. Could you imagine how hot a lot of the male stars would look, and how fabulous the drag boys would show up, LOL. Get's me cracking up just thinking about it.

There have been a couple of times throughout these last 10 months of blogging, where I have asked myself what I was thinking of, is it really worth it? You all remind me again and again why I do though. Already some of you have donated some hard earned dollars to the "BREAK THE BOYCOTT" campaign, that I am supporting for Davey's Basement. In less than 2 weeks it will be a yes or now whether the store can remain open or move to fight the boycott. I know times are tough for everyone, and I appreciate anyone who has a couple of dollars or more to send to Terri Yale and her family. My thought process is this. If you lived close by, you would probably come to support the cause and listen to the music. It is $6 bucks to get in the door, and you would probably have a beer or two. Please take that $10 dollars you would have spent if you could and send it to the paypal addy on my website link. Then just stay home on Saturday the 20th, and imagine you are there supporting your GLBT community. Thanx again for those who have donated, and to those who will in the next 2 weeks. First day on the new job went fantastic, thanx for all of the kind emails of support. I am slowly turning the office as gay friendly as possible, and if any of you have any audio/visual/multimedia needs for you GLBT business or project, please let me know. I did submit my first proposal yesterday that looks like it could get a $36,000 dollar production deal for an outdoor television show we would edit the completed footage of. I also sold a commercial production package to a computer office, so I am hitting the ground running.

Hey Blogger Friends and Readers. Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Mine was spent mostly cleaning up loose ends to start my new job full time on Monday. So I told you all about my hero, Terri Yale and her family that have gone thru the crisis of a boycott, eggs being thrown and drastic reduction of business, ever since she decided to support the local high school Gay/Straight Alliance by donating a float for their homecoming parade. It's been a hard 3 months for the Yale family and the store, Davey's Basement, and decisions have to be made. If things continue as they are, Terri is sure she will have to close the store by the end of February. However, some local artists are not letting this happen quietly and are staging one big benefit to try to keep the business alive.

The band "Minor Planets", who has a transgendered member, has created a benefit with a few other bands to help "BREAK THE BOYCOTT", and give Terri and Davey's Basement at least some breathing room for the next few months. There will be bands, a silent auction of signed music posters, cd's, art, area businesses and much, much more. The benefit is being held at Mac's Bar in nearby Lansing, Michigan from 5-9pm, and all ages are welcome until 9pm in this one time special event. The goal is to raise enough money to pay the lease and utilities for the next 6 months, and maybe get enough money to move the business to the more friendly city of Lansing, with a little bigger space to give room for GLBT youth, along with any other disenfranchised kids to have a place to hang out and be safe from prejudice and harrasment. Maybe even put in a coffee bar in it. The Gay Guru is breaking exile in NE Ohio to drive up to the event to help out in any way I can. YOU can help out in one of 3 ways. Minor Planets

Television is interesting tonight. Sunday has always been easy for me. A good cry watching Extreme Home Makeover, a good laugh at the usually funny Desperate Housewives, and then a feel good hour with one of my favorite new shows with a bonus of having a strong male co-star as well, watching Brothers and Sisters. Usually there has been no competition, but then NBC comes along and messes everything up. Against Extreme Makeover tonight, they begin their reality series, "You Are The One That I Want," the search for the next leads of a Broadway production of "GREASE." How can a card carrying homo say no to bad tv, centering around a triend and true musical?? And Rosie hating, (or should I say blood sucking publicity leech on Rosie's hard working fat ass,) Donald Trump, has his next season of The Apprentice debuting tonight. Since you know my undying loyalty is to Rosie O'Donnell, you would think this would be an easy choice and to dump the donald and get back to the second half of housewives and brothers and sisters. Not so fast blogger friends, I actually liked The Apprentice, and this season they have not 1 but 2 gay males on their fighting for their chance to suck up, errrr, i mean, work for The Donald. Decisions, decisions, luckily, Housewives and Brothers/Sisters are rerun the next day on ABC.com, so I think it will just be a quick flip flop to see Extreme Makeover on the commercials for Grease. Am I a dork or what, LOL.

Not much in the news this weekend that was too interesting so it's time to say goodbye til tomorrow. Captured Cuties today were found on good blogger buddies Leonard's, The Wonderful World of Leonard. This is a bud I want to hang out with on my next trip to California. Morning blogger friends and readers. Much to do this weekend. Need to go into the studio today and put together a print and web ad for the business that is running in 2 weeks, need to finish updating the website a bit, and need to take a little time to chill. Hope you all have something exciting or relaxing to do over the weekend, whatever is needed. Is it me, or have I just gone over the edge with my birthday happening last week and all? Don't Saturday morning cartoon shows SUCK!! I used to be so excited for the saturday morning shows, and while relaxing on the couch today, I decided to indulge in some nostalgia. That lasted about 5 minutes. A narcissistic emporor on Disney, some lame horses on another channel. What happened to the kewl stuff on Saturday mornings. Okay, I am old, I admit it, I wont scare you all with all the references I can conjure up, but even He-Man and Skeletor were better than some of the stuff I see now. And what happened to the live action shows? Remember ISIS and SHAZAM hour? Sigmund and the Seamonsters? Sigmund and Johnny and Scott were friends you know!! (scott, hahah). Anyway, maybe I am just too old, but I cant find a decent Saturday morning show, and I am just gonna go to work.........how sad is that!!

For my local NE Ohio friends, there is an important seminar being held in a couple of weeks. The local PFLAG chapter is hosting a seminar on how to legally and financially set up your estate as part of the GLBT community. With the passage 2 years ago of Issue 1 here in Ohio, that was one of the most far reaching, anti-gay marriage and civil union measures in the country, this is a very important seminar. I urge you all to go if you have the time. For my non-local readers, contact your local area PFLAG or Gay and Lesbian Community Service Center, and see if they can arrange something like this in your home town. Until we get full equal rights under the law as our straight counterparts, we MUST protect ourselves, our families, and our estates. THANX PFLAG.......

My New Job as Sales and Marketing Director, Captured Cuties

Evening blogger friends and readers. It became official today!! After reviewing all that I have been doing for my buddy Chip's business and the direction we have been able to take it in the 6 weeks of helping him out, I am now officially on the payroll. I am very happy and leaving my current job almost immediately. There is no ill-will, I am able to trade out of most of my shifts for my two-weeks notice, so I will be rehirable, and leave in good graces. I am now the Sales and Marketing Director for Accent Media, LLC, thank you very much. I actually took a small cut in pay to accept the job, but the trade-offs are definitely worth it. I now set my schedule, instead of working the horrid 130pm to 10pm shift I was stuck with in my old job. I now have weekends and evenings off, and not Thursday/Sundays. I now have a job that I fully enjoy and uses my talents, more than I was doing at the old one. I will probably end up putting in more hours at this new place, because I like it so much, and that's the way we are really going to succeed and both make more money. As Sales and Marketing Director, the more succesful I make the company and Chip the owner, the more succesful I will be as well. I am basically the second in charge of the entire company and involved in all facets, personnel, accounting, the whole nine yards. This will allow Chip to assume more of a Creative Director role, and make sure that all of the work we do for our clients is of the best quality we can make it, building our brand and our reputation. I will blog more about it soon, and be looking to all of you blogger friends and readers for clients. It's the digital age out there boys and girls and we are ready to move.

So I have my "Journey's Greatest Hit's" CD playing in the background blogger friends and readers because I am really just that much of a geek, and because we may have some new friends visiting our blog and website, courtesy of that city by the bay, San Francisco, Calif. The Bay Area Reporter, local GLBT newspaper of the Bay area that services all around and not just San Francisco, has a little mention of me, your favorite Gay Guru, quoting my love of Terri Yale of Davey's Basement. Check out the link to the B.A.R., to read the full story. Matthew, the reporter for the story did a great job featuring Terri. It was great to support her, and to talk to Matt, since we have kinda switched places. I am from California, and now blogging here in NE Ohio, and he is originally from Connecticut and now writing in Northern California. A small, small world blogger friends. Speaking of Terri, I will have a BIG post about her this weekend. In one final attempt to keep the store from closing and perhaps even move a few miles to a more friendly town, A local band has generously started a benefit concert for her. Put down Saturday, January 20th on your calendar. I will give you more details this weekend, and updates weekly until it happens. A certain Guru will be trekking up to the great state of Michigan to lend my support as well.

Tomorrow is the day friends. I find out whether I get to quit the job I hate, so I can take over my current duties as Sales and Marketing Director for Accent Media, as a PAID position. As you know, I have been volunteering since Thanksgiving for my good friend Chip, to help him get back on his feet with his Video production company. We are starting to do much better, and I am hoping to be part of the staff next week. I was really hoping for this week, but what can you do I guess. The new job is something that I love, sales and marketing, (and all around bitch, bookeeper, appointment setter, etc.), and the hours are better and flexible. I will actually end up working more hours, but on my time most of the time and not afternoon into the night every day. Wish me luck and be thinking of me, and I hope you all get your dream job in the New Year as well.

And a look at what's IN THE NEWS............i was so happy today, and even went to my local chapter of the Stonewall Democrats tonight and joined because, Dems Take Over Congress; well, this could make me change my mind and actually decide to join a gym this year, Ritzy Gym's Janitors Sue Over Gay Sex; and it was hard enough to decide what to buy for just ONE parent these past holidays, Two Moms & A Dad Ruling Cheered, Assailed; hmmmm, well, if they were shooting at the guys at a gay party, there was some hate going on from somewhere, maybe just not the legal kind, Shootings At Gay Party Not Hate Crime Chicago Official Says; and finally, our favorite fictional fag hag, Karen Walker, has been dumped, Megan Mullally's Talk Show Canceled.

New Years Resolutions Are From The Devil, Hug A Homo

So New Years resolutions blogger friends and readers were made to be broken!! It took me three days to break the, "I resolve to post something on the blog everyday, anything, even just to say hi." Well, that is shot to hell already, LOL. Seriously, who started these resolution things? Was it a bad person that really needed to repent for being such a snot? Are we really going around every year, emulating some totally messed up dude who needed to resolve not to be such a bad guy anymore? I am resolving that New Years resolutions are from the devil, evil, icky, and should not be emulated anymore. Thank God, now I can go finish that pint of Handel's Chocolate Pecan ice cream that is sitting in my freezer, that I resolved to stop eating dessert for the month of January. Of course, if I ate it for breakfast, it would'nt be dessert and I could keep my resolution! Oh Well, whatever, too much randomness for 630 in the morning boys and girls.

Have you hugged a homo today?? Well, I am hoping it will catch on. One of my directions on this blog in 2007 is to "Hug A Homo". As politically incorrect as that sounds, the idea is altruistic enough. From time to time, or maybe weekly, or maybe more often then that, I am going to randomly pick someone from the GLBT community, who deserves a hug and some kudo's for what they have done, or are doing to hold up our community with honor, dignity and respect. Today I am giving a "HUG" to high school senior Yasmin Gonzalez. If you have not been following her story, Yasmin is a 17yo high school senior in Okeechobee, Florida. She has become something of a target since November, when the American Civil Liberties Union filed a federal lawsuit on her behalf against the Okeechobee High School principal and school board for refusing to let her establish a Gay-Straight Alliance, an after-school club that promotes dialogue and tolerance. But public sentiment runs against Gonzalez in Okeechobee, a town of about 5,500 residents and around 60 churches 70 miles northwest of West Palm Beach. "I don't think it's right. If they're going to let that in school, it's showing it's OK. In the Bible it says it's an abomination. (A Gay-Straight Alliance) is not a message you want to give your kids," 31-year-old Dave Mangold said, sitting on a picnic bench in the heart of town on a recent afternoon. The father of three said most people feel the same way in this "small, hick town." Gonzalez doesn't believe in God or pray anymore, "because you can only be told you are going to hell so many times," she says. Yasmin says she never set out to make news, she just wanted to take her girlfriend to the prom. She gathered 500 signatures when the school told her they wouldn't allow same-sex couples, but nothing changed. When Yasmin tried to register her club, she said administrators first told her the school didn't allow any (despite listing more than a dozen on its Web site, like Future Farmers of America and Key Club). Later Gonzalez said she was told there were too many clubs, and finally that the school had an abstinence-only policy.

Yasmin Gonzalez deserves a big Homo Hug, not just from me, but from everyone in our GLBT community for standing up for what is right, at a young 17. Thanx For A Great Year, In The News, Uh-Oh Animations, Captured Cuties

Sometimes blogger friends, you just have to step back, take a deep breath, and say wheeeeeeeewh!! I can feel the last bits of trouble and torment from 2006, slowly draining from my body and I am getting a little dizzy by the promises that 2007 can bring. You are all a big part of why I am excited about the prospects of the New Year. Although blogging almost daily for 9 months has made it seem much longer, I really have to be amazed by what has happened in a short 9 months. I have really done very little to promote this blog since I started in April, yet looking at the stats, I have had over 84,000 visitors to the blog, over 122,000 page views to the blog, over 10,000 visits to the website, and over 55,000 visitors to the MySpace page. A quick scan of the world map stats shows visitors from the tips of Australia, to the tips of South America, and from the Islands of Japan to across the USA. I have met cyber friends that will forever change my life, like Lady L, Mikey, Mike and D, Marko, Marco, Leonard, Stuart, and too many more to mention.

I did not do a "Year In Review", over the weekend, because, honestly, there was just too much talk about and think about, and there were some other bloggers and websites that just did it better. I am making a personal journal of big events this year, and use it hopefully in the last waning days of 07, to write down what happens this year. I am seeing big changes in the Gay Guru sites, big changes in the country with a different Congress, and the same ol' Iraq problems, and big changes in technology that will see this blogosphere and the other components of cyberland, boom with sonic sound of the space shuttle.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Blogger Friends and Readers!!! I hope none of you are still hung-over from too much champagne and ringing in the New Years. First Night Youngstown was rather uneventful if not a little fun. Not as many participated as I hoped, but then again it was rainy all day and most of the night, so what could you do. The fireworks still went off without a hitch, and even the low clouds, made some of the colors even better. They spent $5,000 dollars on the fireworks for two shows, one for the kids at 9pm and one at Midnight. We have a couple great fireworks places close by. In New Castle, PA, the Zamarelli's were the ones who put on the fireworks show in NYC for thier Rocking New Years, this year. Here locally, Phantom Fireworks, gave the city about $7,000 dollars worth of fireworks for their $5,000, so they could have the extra kids show. Along with the fireworks, there was Elvis, a couple of the local theatre groups, some bands, some movies, a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city, and of course the ball drop from the top of the bank building at midnight. Of course it is an alcohol-free event, but that didnt stop many from ducking in a few of the open bars downtown for some cocktails to warm them up and get them out of the rain. I changed the christmas music out of the Gay Guru website, www.thegayguru.net, and replaced it with some American Idol winners and runners-up, since the new season will start this month. WHOOO EEEEEEEE!! The Guru like's himself some American Idol!! I will also be spending some time each day the rest of the week, updating the rest of the website with new content as well. I am back on the lookout for a web designer who will take pity upon an old and penniless Guru to help build me a kewl new site for free or at a drastically reduced price. For now however, I have a bit of a quest for you all. I have hidden a link somewhere on the website. One that hasn't worked before, but I have set it up for a temporary link to a new page in the website. I have decided for 2007, to add a Chat Room to the Gay Guru website. I was looking around, and think I found a good chat room to add to the site. I have created a test page with a link somewhere on the webpage. I will be in the chat room each day this week, mon-sun, at 7pm Eastern time US, and 11pm Eastern time US. I will be on for up to 1/2 hour at least, each night. I have emailed some friends the exact link to get to the chat room. This is a free version of the one I am thinking of getting and I want to see what people think first, before I purchase the upgraded room. For the rest of you, or if you are a good friend that I have missed, I thought I would make a little game out of it. If you are the first one to find the chat room, when I am in there, I will send you out a little Gay Guru grab bag of goodies. If I get some positive feedback from my friends that I have invited to test out the chat room, it will be up and running for everyone, with it's own page on the navigation bar, next Monday. So extravaganza'd, that I just got home a bit ago and am writing this blog before I crash for most of the day. Too much to go into right now in my diminished capacity, but there was plenty of food, shots, boys, girls, fun and mayhem to be had by all. Thanx to all of my wonderful friends for a great night. I rarely celebrate my birthday because it is in such a horrible time, 5 days after christmas and one day before New Years, but when it falls on a Saturday, what the heck. I do appreciate everyone and all of their kind emails and birthday wishes. One of the big smashes at the birthday extravaganza, was my t-shirt that I recieved yesterday from my awesome cyber friends over at "Dare Ya Wear" clothing, Mikey and D!! Thanx so much for the present. If you havent checked out their hilarious Gay T-shirst yet, you just gotta have one. My present was "Steve was no match, for a jealous Eve", and I just LOVE it!!

I wanted to give you an update on my favorite hero, Terri, over at "Davey's Basement". As all of my regular blog readers know, (and if you dont, shame on you, subscribe to this blog dammit, lol), Terri is the wonderful wife and mother, over in Southern Michigan, that loaned her company truck out to the local high school's Gay/Straight Alliance Club, to use as their float for the homecoming parade. Well, ever since their support of the club, they have been subjected to a town boycott of their cute little indie record/t-shirt/paraphanalia shop, and business went downhill fast. For a local business to be shunned by the locals for being compassionate to the GLBT community, is sad on so many levels. Christmas was not the turn-around point they were hoping for, so their options are dwindling fast. A local band has volunteered to stage a benefit for the store very soon, to help raise money to keep the business afloat, and possibly, move to a different location that can add a small coffee bar and performance area for local GLBT youth and adults to have a safe place to hang out. I will give you all the details and information as soon as the date and venue are set, but it should be very soon. If you could, please set aside a little of the holiday money you got, if any, and try to give your first donation of the new year, to Teri's business, or go to her shop online, and purchase a tshirt, or cd, or something, tell 'em the Gay Guru sent you. Last Post Before The Switch, Advice For Questions For Videographitti, Brothers and Sisters Episodes FINALLY On ABC Website

Okay, hold your breath blogger friends and readers. This is probably the last post I will make before I attempt the switch over to the "New and Improved" blogger...yea right!! I am getting sick of my 'puter screen asking me everyday, "Do you finally wanna switch over to the new blogger egghead??" So sometime between tonight and Saturday, I will attempt the move. As I said, I am copying my template, just in case I need some blog addresses or to try to cut and paste this back to some sort of normalcy in case it all blows up. It may be a smooth as silk transition, but I am not counting on it. I just dont have that kinda luck, and besides, it's my birthday Saturday, so something needs to come down and rain on my parade, LOL.

So I am transitioning into more and more hours at the production studio, trying to convince my friend I am worth paying so I can get the heck out of my other job that I have grown to hate. There are a lot of kewl and exciting things happening over at Accent Media, and I hope I am becoming a strong part of the team in getting the place a bit more organized and recognized as we head into a new year. One of the things I have been working on there, I could use your help with. I need some of your fabulous ideas that bloggers and readers are so famous for. Here's the dealio, as part of my marketing campaign for the company, I am creating a blog, (who woulda thunk it eh?), that will chronicle a bit about our company, and be hopefully of some use to the general public as well. I have just started the shell of it, and (gasp!) you may even get to see my picture that I have hidden from you all so well here over the last 9 months, as I want each of the guys at the studio to have a face shot on the blog. The site is at www.accentmedia.wordpress.com, and I have tentavely titled the blog, "Videographitti". As I said, part of the blog will be promotion for the company, but part of it will be some useful blog entries for all of you wannabe filmakers, videographers, camerapeople, editors, web builders, etc., and will offer some friendly tips and advice. Here is where I need your help!! I need ideas for posts of things you guys would like to know about the things I just talked about. Nothing super fancy, but we may be able to individually help you with those problems as well on occassion, but some simple troubleshooting questions or advice questions, that could help you all out. I want to make some humorous headlines with some worthwhile advice. Something like, "Better To Be Seen Than Heard??," and advice about using built in microphones with the camera's, or a good microphone to invest in with your camera and how to use it. Or like, "Great Ideas Begin With A Flashbulb Going Off Above Your Head," and give some advice on the best use of flash and lighting for a shot. So there you have it blogger friends. What kind of ideas do you have for questions about Camerawork, lighting, editing, software, graphic design, and web building, that you would like answered. I will be sure to let you all know when entries to the blog are posted. Heck, I may even copy and paste them over here on this blog and add them to the Gay Guru Website as well. As I told you on christmas, I will be blogging lite until January 2nd, with sporadic posts. I hope you all had a great holiday season and are getting ready for a rocking new year. I see big things coming for the Gay Guru blog and website, along with our One Year Anniversary in April. One last thing I HAVE to tell you about is the ABC show "Brothers and Sisters", that I have been gushing about all season. Well ABC listened to the emails of myself and I am sure a million others, and FINALLY put the full episodes up on their website, and will be replaying each new episode online 24 hours after the episode originally airs!! 12th Day of Christmas

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Happy Christmas, and any other way any of you blogger friends and readers may be celebrating today. For all of our other friends, who have already celebrated the season or are doing so in their own ways, I hope you have enjoyed a fantastic weekend. The Guru family is not huge on extravagant gift giving over the holidays to each other, it's mostly hanging together, eating and being a family. My big gifts this year from Mama and Papa Guru, consisted of some cash and a crock pot, (that I really wanted and asked for btw.) We did spend christmas eve and part of today with close neighbors and their families, eating waaaaaay too much and laughing waaaaay too hard so the food was shooting out some noses. I am on my way out to one christmas tradition I still have, movies with friends on christmas day. Unfortunately, DreamGirls was supposed to open I thought here today, but am not seeing it in the newspaper or online, so I guess it's not. Our back-up plan is to see Will Smith in "The Pursuit of Happiness."

I will be continuing to blog lite until the new year, but starting next tuesday the 2nd, it will be full steam ahead again. At least you dont have to put up with my 12 Days of Christmas anymore, lol. I am kinda scared my blogger is going to blow-up if I keep adding more and more pictures blogger friends, LOL. The last weekend of christmas mayhem is here boys and girls, do you have your shopping done yet? I have to do some last minute shopping, but hell to the no, if you think I am fighting those crowds. Can you say 3am shopping at 24hour Super KMart and Walmart?? I know you can!! LOL, yes, I am a cheap guru, but I got all my big presents out of the way, the rest is just easy pick up stuff for stockings and such. On a side note, I wanna shout out all the hard work my new co-workers have been doing at Accent Media, the little audio/visual/multimedia production company my friend owns, and I have been volunteering my marketing and business skills for. Things were looking bad after having to buy out the partner, but with hard work, we have managed to bring in 10K in billings this week, with work lined up for the next 4 weeks. With any luck, we will continue the trend and start paying off some of the massive debt of the company. Who knows, I may even get to quit my other job and get paid for being there, with MUCH better hours and better people to work with. We are still looking for any commercials or video work you need done, anywhere in the US. We bring our own equiptment, cute but str8 videographers and editors, and can make you or your company look great in commercials, training videos, product demos, music videos and more. I Am Looking For A New Holiday Tradition.......

The holidays are crazy for me blogger friends, so much work, shopping, parties, friends and festivities to do, I lose all semblance of time and space, thus, blogging will be very erratic until the New Year. There might be small posts, there may be no posts, there may be triple or extended posts, I will do what I can, as I can. I would like to post the 12 days of christmas starting tomorrow thru christmas day. I have some ideas and I hope they all come out okay, to ensure at least one small post a day.

For now, I am looking for a new christmas tradition. I have been in the NE now for about 8 years, and I have yet to start any holiday traditions. Granted, I lived in 4 other cities all around the NE and New England since I came here, so there has been some small excuses for not getting into the swing of a tradition, but I love fun quirky things. While I was living in Southern California, my friends and I had a tradition for 8 years of christmas caroling in Beverly Hills. Did you know that not all stars have huge driveways with gates at the bottom to keep out strangers like me. Every year, my closest friends and I would gather, it would be about 8-15 depending on if we brought along other friends. We would dress up in our Winter's best, (and thats hard to do sometimes when it's 80 degrees at christmas time in cali every once in a while,) copy some christmas music, (you would think by year 8 we would have em all memorized, but we didnt,) and gather up some candles, and we were off. A lot of the older stars had very nice million dollar homes in BH, but they were nothing too different than some of the really nice subdivisions in the ritzy areas of your hometown. Can you imagine the fun we had and some of the people we were fortunate to sing to? We started off the first year, with a map of the stars homes believe it or not, and after the first 2 years, just started going in some different areas and being surprised at who we might see. My most special memories were singing White Christmas to Bing Crosby and his wife, Dashing thru the Snow to Jimmy Stewart and his wife, Silent Night to Rosemary Clooney, and a couple more you wouldnt believe. We were never invited into a star's home, but some of the 90210 residents did invite us in for coffee or a cookie on occassion. The funniest and most embarrassing time for me, came one year when Stacey forgot to by dripless candles. We always had little candle holders we used and rarely made a mess, but this year, all the wax kept pooling down on our candle holders or in the top's of the candles and someone bumped Jimmy, and he spilled wax all over Lucille Ball's front brick walkway as she and husband Gary Morton watched in a little alcove window above their front door. Jimmy mad a loud "oh damn" in the middle of the song and we all started giggling and stopped and he explained to Lucy what happened. She was very kewl about it and let out one of her own Lucy laughs, it was embarrassing and fantastic all at once. After caroling each year we would pick a place in Beverly Hills, or Hollywood, or somewhere close by for a big dinner and to talk about the night and who we met and just hang out as great friends. We hit Hard Rock Cafe at the Beverly Center, Ed Debevics 50's style diner, Lawry's for Prime Rib, Le Dome, on the Sunset Strip, Hamburger Hamlet in Beverly HIlls, and a few more places. It was one of the best christmas traditions I ever had.

So anyway, I am searching to start a new christmas tradition this year, you all have any suggestions?? What are YOUR holiday traditions? Do you do anything fun, exciting, spiritual, goofy, or whatever each and every year? I would love to hear about it. In The News: Sometimes You Just Gotta Call BULLSHIT!! Captured Cuties

Sooooo, the first post of the day earlier, was about the christmas spirit and helping others this holiday season. This post is about calling bullshit, bullshit. Sorry if I gave any of you whiplash with this transition, but two items in the news today have got me boiling a bit and I need to call it out.........

First off, this is from the Associated Press no less, it seems Masschussetts Governor and presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, has been caught in lies and flip-flopping yet again. If you didnt read it last week, A gay-oriented Massachusetts newspaper, Bay Windows, released a transcript of a 1994 interview with Romney during the Senate race in which he pledged strong advocacy for the gay community. During the same interview, Romney said he opposed then-U.S. Sen. Jesse Helms' legislative amendment to ban federal funding for public schools that support homosexuality as a lifestyle alternative. ''I don't think the federal government has any business dictating to local school boards what their curriculum or practices should be,'' Romney said, according to the transcript. ''I think that's a dangerous precedent in general. I would have opposed that.''

This week, his beliefs on gay issues are under scrutiny after the re-emergence of a letter he wrote during his 1994 run for U.S. Senate in which he promised a gay Republicans group he would be a stronger advocate for gays than Sen. Edward Kennedy. The 1994 letter was written to the Log Cabin Club of Massachusetts, a gay Republican group, when Romney was courting gay voters during his unsuccessful campaign against Kennedy. Citing Kennedy's record of advocacy for gays and lesbians, Romney wrote, ''For some voters, it might be enough to simply match my opponent's record in this area. But I believe we can and must do better. If we are to achieve the goals we share, we must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern.'' Romney's views in the letter contrast with recent statements by the Massachusetts governor, who has emphasized his opposition to gay marriage as he positions himself as a committed conservative in preparation for an expected 2008 run for the Republican presidential nomination. In the Log Cabin Club letter, Romney also said he supported President Clinton's ''don't ask, don't tell'' policy regarding gays serving in the armed forces, describing it as ''the first in a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation's military.''

Noted conservative Paul Weyrich told The New York Times, ''Unless he comes out with an abject repudiation of this, I think it makes him out to be a hypocrite.'' YOU THINK??? As I said, let's call this what it is, complete and utter bullshit, that he is spewing just to get elected. When he was running for the Senate in Mass, he needed the gay vote in the Boston area to win and courted us there. Now that he is running for President, he needs the conservative vote, and he is courting them. What side of the issue does Romney really believe? Who knows and who cares, we cant trust him on either really, can we? I hope this sinks him quicker than a lead balloon in his future presidential aspirations.

Next on my bullshitometer, comes the story out of Colorado from the news staff at 365.Gay News. The senior pastor of a second Colorado megachurch has resigned following a phone call to the church outing him. The Rev. Paul Barnes of Grace Chapel in South Denver announced in a video taped message to his congregation Sunday that he was stepping down. "1 have struggled with homosexuality since I was a 5-year-old boy," Barnes said in the video according to the Denver Post which was allowed to view the tape. ".. I can't tell you the number of nights I have cried myself to sleep, begging God to take this away." Barnes founded Grace Chapel in his basement 28 years ago and saw it grow to be one of the biggest churches in the state.

Barnes preached that homosexuality is a sin, but unlike Haggard neither he nor his church took a stand on a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage that was approved by voters last month. In the video Barnes said he became a Christian at age 17 and felt it would help him give up homosexuality, but the feelings never went away, he said. And here is where the bullshit comes in....... Still, he said he cannot accept that a person is "born that way," adding that he believes sexuality is influenced by childhood experiences. Barnes said in the video that he has been in counseling three times but never found anyone he could talk to. His wife also appeared in the half-hour video the Post reported, saying that she didn't know about her husband's struggles until he confided in her last week. The couple has two daughters in their 20s. I am really starting to fully believe that addage, that the ones that protest homosexuality the loudest, are truly gay themselves. It must come from self-hate or something. I can almost understand a person hiding himself in religion to keep his homosexuality at bay, but to vehemently attack, ridicule, denounce, and decry it from the rooftops the way this pastor and good old Pastor Ted, is just wrong. I would love to be a fly on the wall on judgement day of those two. Now I am not meaning to offend any church go'ers here, but I couldnt find a pic of Pastor Barnes, so I thought I would take a look at church thru the eyes of Hank Hill and his friends over at the Fox cartoon show, "King of the Hill".

Sorry I Missed A Day, Secret Santa Alternatives

No blogger friends and readers, I did not get snowed in away from the puter yesterday, I just had too much going on to blog. Thanx for checking in on me though, it is really appreciated. I hope you all had a great weekend and are getting more in the christmas spirit by the day. Only 14 shopping days left to find that perfect gift for the Guru, LOL. Speaking of gifts, the Secret Santa exchange didnt get off the ground as needed so it is going to have to be shelved until next year. Thanx for all of those that expressed a willingness to participate, and I am learning time tables and organization as to how to promote effective campaigns thru the blogosphere. Give me a little more time and I will have it down. In lieu of Secret Santa's, I am asking all my Gay Guru fans and readers to keep the spirit of the holidays alive and redirect your secret santa gift in one of the following ways....

It's too late to get care packages out right now, but you dont need a holiday excuse to support our troops. As badly as this war was bungled and ill-planned by our leaders, this is still American service men, doing their duty to our country, and they need our support all the time. Check out different organizations where you can send a letter of support or a care package. Below is a video for a fantastic operation, and it gives details on how you can support our troops. A quick email google search will give you hundreds of organizations dedicated to this effort. Take the time you were going to spend on Secret Santa and write a letter to a service man or woman, whether it arrives by christmas or not, it will be heartfelt when received.

Another way to celebrate the spirit of the holidays in lieu of a secret santa is to go to your local post office. Each year, thousands of kids write letters to santa and they are left in the post office back rooms. The post office actually allows you to go there and request some letters to fill that persons wish. Take a second to get to your local post office and fulfill some kids holiday wishes today.

You can also call your local Salvation Army. They have a program called the "giving tree" where they get specific needs for local families in the community and put them on cards on trees around the community. You can take as many cards as you wish, and buy whats on the card and take it back to the location of the tree or bring it directly to your Salvation Army.

Saturday is here blogger friends, and I lost all track of time yesterday and couldnt get another blog out last night. Good blogger friend Leonard is somehow rich enough or well connected enough, he is enjoying all three of the lavish presents I talked about yesterday, so christmas party at his house this year, LOL. This weekend I have to work my real job a bit, take in a meeting with another guy I am going to be doing some business with, and I have to clean up the studio of my buddy's production company that I have started marketing for. I set up a couple interviews with some NE Ohio newspapers and magazines for next week, and of course, he is out of town filming that excercise video in San Francisco, while the gay guy is stuck here in Ohio, lol. Speaking of production companies and the commercials we make, here is one of my favorite christmas commercials back this holiday season......

So as I have said many times, I love the christmas season for an excuse to give things to people and to help out those less fortunate. It should be how we are 365 a year, but it isnt, so I take it as I can get it. I want you to form your own opinion on this next piece of information I am giving you. Something about it is seting off serious alarms in my head, but the story is compelling enough, that I am trying to shake off my aprehensions. This comes from a gay porn website, from it's resident "Doc Feel", but he also happpens to be a PHD clinical psychologist. This supposedly has come to him thru childrens services and he says he has checked it out. It is making the rounds in the gay blogging circles, and I wanted to give it a small forum, but again, please read it over and make your own decision about it. San Francisco, In The News, A Little MTV News, Captured Cuties

Hey blogger friends and readers, welcome to Thursday. The snow is back, but it's still not sticking on the roads much yet, thank goodness. That could all change by tomorrow, when we can wake up with up to 6-8 inches, (not that I haven’t woken up with 6-8 inches before thank you very much, lol.) The bad thing, is that my buddy Chip, who owns the production studio I am working at as his marketing manager, is scheduled to fly out in the morning to San Francisco for a 4 day shoot to film a new exercise video. I wish I could have gotten out of my other job so I could tag along and help out and goof around in the city. I used to live an hour and a half from San Francisco in Monterey, Ca, and the first time I went into the city, it freaked me out and I left after an hour. Luckily a good friend showed me around, and I fell in love with it. I even left my heart in San Francisco one night for a boy named Rob, but it was only for the night, haha!

Shall we talk a little MTV for a moment. Our gay boy Davis over at Real World Denver has a serious meltdown and seems to be off the show. There goes that eye candy, but really, what's up with all of the 'N' word bombs going off lately, jeeeeesh, Michael Richards, Andy Dick, now Davis at Real World. And for our gay girls over at The Real World/Road Rules "DUAL", it seems there is some fighting in the house over is she really gay or isnt she, and a nasty case of fly in the food. YUCK!!

Morning blogger friends and readers, the snow has stopped and didnt leave much, except for the bitter cold. Hope you are all making it thru this half way "HUMP"day Wednesday. So I never commented on the whole Michael Richards, (Kramer), thing, because it was wrong, everyone else was talking about it, and I didnt have anything really relevant to add to it. I think everyone has some sort of prejudice or racism in them, (especially those that start their sentences, "I am not racist but......"), and the true test of someone's heart, is how they deal with it. I think it's basically a fear or non understanding, of those that are different. That's how I can relate being black to being gay. Someone's innate fear or prejudice or racism is exposed if they can't confront and control their fears to move on and understand the other person, realizing we are all the same. Richards was wrong and on the far other side of just being afraid or racist, he showed true evil in his heart towards another person, and that is something that needs sought out it's base and treated either psychologically or medically. All that being said, I am going to jump on the bandwagon of poking fun at a serious matter and show this video I found on one of my favorite blogsites, the mind of baub, made by National Lampoon. Baub also has a hilarious vid of Margaret Cho you might want to check out on his site. He has been busy with a new job and hasnt posted much lately, but it's always a fun read when he does post, enjoy.

It's Wintertime, MTV Premiere's New Video's Every Night, Penguin Mania, Janice Dickensons 12 Days, Captured Cuties

Winter has officially come to NE Ohio blogger friends and readers. Our first snowfall that is actually sticking to the ground has come upon us, and thankfully it waited all the way until December 5th this year. Our high for yesterday was 28 degrees farenheight and today it should go up to a balmy 31. For those friends that live in Southern California and such, yes, snow is beautiful to look at and makes for a pastoral picture......for the first hour maybe. Then it turns to brown and black slush along the roadways, and breaks tree branches all over the place. I do love the change of seasons back here in Ohio, but I really could do without Winter if pressed. Living most of my life in SoCal, I am not a good snow driver. I still tend to tailgate, grilled into my brain by the many years of L.A. bumper to bumper traffic, and I have never had to worry how much weight I had in the back of my car or truck to minimize the "sliding effect". I am breaking out the snow gloves as well this morning because you tend to freeze your hands off while getting all that snow off your #$%&$#& car. (I dont have a garage, pathetic I know.)

And did somebody say "As Cold As Penguins", here in the Ohio tundra? LOL, actually I just needed a segue to this story about the Happy Feet Penguins and the gay penguins Silo and Roy. "After Elton" writer Michael Jensen, this week takes on conservative columnist Michael Medved. Well, I havent poked some good political fun in a while now, so read this......

MICHAEL MEDVED TO STAR IN NEW ANIMATED MOVIE: BATSH*T CRAZY!

You'd think a good Orthodox Jewish boy like conservative columnist Michael Medved would know it's not good form to play with the truth. (You'd think Medved would know a lot of things he doesn't, but I digress.) This week Michael's got his knickers all knotted up over the new animated children's movie Happy Feet. Or as Medved calls it Crappy Feet. Is he Oscar Wilde reincarnate or what? I despair of ever being half that witty. It's not just that Happy Feet dares to have a pro-environmental message that enrages Medved (and the rest of his ilk), but that he detects a pro-gay agenda in it as well. The offensive character in this instance is Mumbles (Elijah Wood), who tells his parents he was born the way he is and can't change. I find it fascinating how much Medved hates the idea of teaching tolerance (unless it's done by animated Christian vegetables hewing strictly to the party line).

Attacking Happy Feet wasn't enough for Medved, however. Still brimming with rage, he spewed his venom over the editorial pages of USA Today where he took on the children's book Tango Makes Three. Tango tells the story of Roy and Silo, two male penguins in New York City's Central Park Zoo who raised a chick together. Here is where Medved starts to play a little footloose with his facts. Says Medved of Silo and Roy's relationship, “it was relatively short”. Hmm, the two penguins were together for six years. The average penguin lives for 18 or so years meaning that Silo and Roy were together longer than many conservative politicians and their wives. Medved also says it was very easy to break-up Roy and Silo. Yeah, that's why they were together for six years.

Medved then links to an article about Roy and Silo as proof of his claims. I guess he didn't read it to closely as the article details how the zoo currently has four other same-sex couples among the zoo's sixty five birds, one of which is the now grown up Tango. (Uh oh!) Medved also conveniently ignores the six penguins in a German Zoo who resisted their reparative therapy. Of course, maybe Medved isn't fibbing. Maybe he's just a crappy journalist.

Medved also criticizes Tango Makes Three for not detailing the end of Roy and Silo's relationship. Says Medved of the break-up, “an outcome never described, of course, in the propagandistic story book for kids”. Let's see, Tango was published in April of 2005 and Roy and Silo split in September of that same year. Does Medved think Tango's writers should buzz back in their time machine and change the book? Or perhaps he wants new editions to have an update? BTW, Medved's attacks on Tango are in support of some Illinois families who want the book, written for 4 to 8 year olds, moved from the library's children section to one for mature readers. He wants this despite the fact that it received a starred review from Booklist and has the complete support of American Library Association. Because whether it's movies or books, Michael Medved knows what's best for his kids—and yours.

Okay, for any of you that dont watch that trainwreck of a show thats fun to hate, "The Janice Dickenson Show", on the Oxygen Network. Here is a pretty funny holiday parody of her singing the 12 days of christmas, the dickenson way. It's a pretty bad copy, so sorry about the quality, but it's pretty damn funny. I love 10 gays a primping and 5 naked men...LOL

Not Enough Hours In The Day, Reichen/Lance Over, NPH Sings, In The News, Captured Cuties

I HATE MONDAYS!!! I know blogger friends and readers, welcome to the club, right?? I swear that science, physics, planetary movements, or some darn thing tells me that there is the same 24 hours in Monday as there is in the other days of the week, but it always seems like I am running behind and there's never enough hours in a Monday. Today I had to wake up, (a chore in itself for some unknown reason), take out the garbage I forgot to take out last night before the trucks came down the street, iron some clothes that I didnt feel like doing yesterday during laundry day yesterday, and clean up before the cleaning lady came, (dont even give me grief about that, it's worth every cent of the time I save.) That was by 9am!! Then I had to shower, shampoo and shine to run out to Chips studio that I am helping him get organized and marketed, by 10am. I worked there until 1pm and then and went to my "real job" and worked today 130-7pm. Then I rushed home and caught up on email and phone calls which brings us now to 8:15 eastern time. And you know I gotta rush this post out before Heroes starts at 9pm, LOL.

Doing a quick review of a couple of my daily reads, it seems as though Lance Bass and Reichen are history. That's a sucky time to break up, around Thanksgiving and Christas. Do you remember Lance showing off his house at Christmas last year, it was beautiful. Well, I am sorry to hear the gay couple of the year broke up, but I wish them both well, I couldnt imagine living my life out in the real world, under the microscope they did. I just hope it wasnt because of one using the other or anything, sometimes you are just not in the right relationship at the right time. Speaking of our Outed, or self-outing celebrities of the year, it seems that Megan Mullaly had the cast of "How I Met Your Mother," on the show where newly confirmed to the world gay man, Neil Patrick Harris and fellow castmate broke into a broadway bound singing of Les Miserable's......check it out below....Thanx You Tube and Perez Hilton for the heads up.

I like the band a lot as well, but he is really on the far end of in love with them, travelling all over the US to see them perform. Well somehow, he has either been too busy or too cheap to shell out the 40 bucks for the the book "U2 by U2", the book written by the members of the band and their manager, Paul Mcguinniss. The book came out in September, and I thought for sure he would have it by now, but my secret spy, and my friends not so secret lover, told me that it was on his christmas list, and he let me be the one to pick it up for him. Taa Daa, one down, about 30 more to go!! If any of you are big U2 fans like me and especially my buddy Greg, here is a little preview of what all is in the book.........

So I have an open question for you all blogger friends and readers, and it's about open relationships. First off, let me assure you that I know I am the Gay Guru in name only, and am in no way the be all, end all, expert on gay culture. What the Gay Guru was formed out of, was my desire to give back to the community in some small way, either thru information, advice, commentary and hopefully humor of things I have gone thru or witnessed in my life as a gay man. I give out honest heartfelt and sometimes headstrong opinions that I have made and which I usual believe, but in no way do I ever think that my answer, advice or comment is always the correct last word on the subject, which brings me to why I am asking this question.

Being a relatively normal gay man, me likes myself a little gay porn every here and then. Sexuality is a big part of our community, and what the hey, it's fun to watch, lol. So liking it as I do, I am a big fan of Jason Sechrest, who hosts his own blog, website, interview shows at the gay bars, and everything else he does in the world of gay and straight porn. Anyway, I was doing my daily read of his Jason's Diary, and he posted on Friday, December 1st, about finally hooking up sexually this past week with his ex of over 4 years. He then goes on in the post, to talk about having a bad week with his bf Mikey, (yes I said bf, this was the part that got to me, but you have to read his past diary entry's to get up to speed), and them talking things out and Mikey apologizing for not trying enough, etc, etc, read the diary! Anyways, we had a long back and forth comment discussion about it. Me telling him how I thought it was wrong to be having sex with an ex or with anybody while in a relationship, and him telling me that sex is just sex, and it is a more mature person that doesnt build their relationship based solely on that. I think he made some valid points, and I think I made some valid points, but then again, I am me, so my feelings win out for me, LOL. If you have a chance, read the post and then read our comments back and forth to each other. Let me know what your thoughts are on the matter of having an "open relationship". Do they work? Can they work? Would you rather have an open relationship or a monogamous one. Should I be changing my attitude and catching up to the times where a hot f*ck with a stranger doesnt count in a relationship. Have I been missing out? Str8 readers feel free to jump in on this as well. I am looking forward to some comments and some emails.

Capote's Famed Masked Ball Recreated

(New Orleans, Louisiana) Maybe it should be called the Resurrection Party of the Century. In a bid to raise money for writers and poets displaced by Hurricane Katrina, a fledgling group of writers ladled up some haute couture in the Crescent City by staging a re-enactment of Truman Capote's 1966 extravaganza, the Black and White Ball. There have been other attempts at re-creating the Party of the Century, as the "Tiny Terror's" 1966 masked ball at the Plaza Hotel in New York City has been called, but this one was particularly unusual, and eerie, because it brought the celebrated writer's life full circle. The setting was the Queen Anne Ballroom of the Hotel Monteleone, a faded 19th-century hotel one block away from Bourbon Street where, 82 years ago, Capote's mother lay pregnant in Room 950 overlooking the Mississippi River; she went into labor with her unborn child, the boy she'd name Truman, and never accept because he failed to be the virile man she so selfishly wanted. Instead, the openly gay Truman was nasally in his speech and flamboyant in his dress.

The date and time for this year's ball was 8 p.m., Nov. 28, 2006, 40 years to the day and nearly the hour of Capote's blowout to celebrate the publication of his masterpiece, "In Cold Blood," which had vaulted him into the heavens of the rich and famous. An annual Black and White Ball "belongs here," Robert Smallwood, the writer responsible for organizing the inaugural New Orleans ball, said at the end of the long, boozy and burnished night. "He's probably looking over, and, and, uh," Smallwood searched his thoughts. What would Capote have said about Smallwood's attempt at this re-creation? "... just grinning as much as he could because he always wanted to be famous for a long time and I think he's achieved that," Smallwood offered. "And the sign of a true artist is one that gets more popular as time goes on and it looks like he has done that." And Capote's flame is burning strong these days, 22 years after he died in 1984. In March, the biopic "Capote" was nominated for five Academy Awards, and won the best actor prize for Philip Seymour Hoffman's portrayal of the author. Now, "Infamous," starring Toby Jones as Capote, is winning critical acclaim. Both films focus on the author's dark quest to create the true-crime novel "In Cold Blood."

Happy Saturday blogger friends, it's cold and windy here in the great NE portion of Ohio. Yesterday winds were blowing things all over the place. They have calmed down quite a bit today, but jeeeesh, am happy I wasn't Donald Trumps hair yesterday, LOL. Hope you all are enjoying the first weekend of December. As usual, I have too much to do including a little work, a little shopping, a little website updating, and a little ME time. It's going to be a short and sweet blog entry today, but I may have another post up later tonight. If not, will give you some extra captured cuties tomorrow. Changed up the Home Page for the Gay Guru Website, and added christmas music to all the pages blogger friends and readers. Check it out throughout the weekend, and I will be updating the pages individually...look for them to turn green....lol.

Today, my virtual christmas gifts go out to Mikey, who has helped out so much with the HIV Awareness page at the website. The first thing of course, would be 10 boxes, each smaller than the rest, each wrapped individually, until you open the last tiny box and in it is no jewelry, but a pill and your HIV will be TOTALLY removed from your system. Next, over by the tree, would be the bestest bicycle a rider could ride on that bicycle trip you want to take, with a comfy seat, and a bell to ring and rainbow streamers coming out of the handlebars, lol. Finally, I would give you a magical airline ticket that would get you onto any flight you ever wanted to visit all of your blogger friends that you connect to so well. Keep your viral load undetectable for real until that pill can be unwrapped and have a very happy holiday this season Mikey, thanx for all the work you have done for the website.

World AIDS Day...........more to come this evening

For the last 18 years Blogger Friends and readers, December 1st has been commemorated as World AIDS Day. A day to make a difference, talk about our policies, renew our commitment, and getting this disease under control. The theme for World AIDS Day 2006 is ACCOUNTABILITY!!

In 2000, heads of state made a promise to halt and begin to reverse the spread of AIDS by 2015. New reports by UNAIDS and the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that, as of 2006, the epidemic continues to spread in every region of the world. By now more than 65 million people have been infected with HIV and well over 25 million people have died of AIDS since 1981, 2.9 million in 2006 alone. At this rate, the WHO predicts that in the next 25 years another 117 million people will die, making AIDS the third leading cause of death worldwide. With “accountability” the theme of this World AIDS Day on 1 December, campaigners across the globe are calling leaders to account not just for good intentions, but for action to make those promises a reality.

“AIDS is the biggest challenge humanity has had to deal with,” says van Soest. More than the technical problem of developing drugs and making sure they are delivered, AIDS “is related to all the taboos and vulnerabilities that affect all our societies” he states. “AIDS challenges us more than any other infectious disease.” In the face of the overwhelming complexity and rampant stigma that surround AIDS, failed promises have become the norm. The change that is desperately needed is radical, but also shockingly simple. In his World AIDS Day message, Kofi Annan, secretary-general of the United Nations, perhaps said it best: “Accountability — the theme of World AIDS Day on Friday — requires every president and prime minister, every parliamentarian and politician, to decide and declare that "AIDS stops with me."

Thursday has become "Thirsty Thursday" for me blogger friends and readers, which means I need a drink. Too many things have collided together today for me to work on any single one with any coherence, so I am throwing in the towel and going to throw back some margarita's. I'm back with another little entry blogger friends. I got the sweetest letter from my new friend and Hero Teri Yale, over at Davey's Basement, over the weekend, and her newsletter in my email today. I can't tell you how nice this woman is, and boycott or not, this lady is going on to even greater things in her life, I can tell. Support from you all, and other bloggers and their friends, has really meant a lot to Teri, and again she says thank you all very much. Two readers of this blog even live close enough to have visited her last week, shopped and mentioned me to her, and I thank them for giving her some business. Things are still rough, and sales arent where they need to be, there is even now a possibility of eviction, but thru it all, she remains positive and will serve her town and our GLBT community till it is impossible to anymore. You still have time to go to the website and purchase christmas gifts, or just say hello and offer some christmas cheer. Go Teri friend, and I hope you will get all your dreams and learn your true calling because I think there is much more in store for you than just shopowner.....MUAH!!

Some interesting news with a gay twist......Dorothy's ruby red slippers are nestled in near NASA's rockets and Charles Lindbergh's plane in a new Smithsonian exhibit at the National Air and Space Museum. Even though Dorothy got around with lightening speed in the slippers from "The Wizard of Oz" the home is only temporary. They usually rest at the National Museum of American History which is undergoing renovation. The new exhibit at the Air and Space Museum is called "Treasures of American History". On hand to open it were Ruth Duccini and Jerry Maren, two of the munchkins from the movie. "The city council of Munchkinland nominated me to be part of the welcoming committee for Dorothy," said Maren, 87, who was 17 when he played one of the three "Lollipop Kids." He wore a blue baseball cap that said "The Lollipop Kid," and carried a huge green and purple lollipop over his shoulder. "We wish to welcome you to Smithsonian Institute," he sang to the tune of the "Lollipop Guild" song in the 1939 film. The exhibit also features a portion of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, the top hat Abraham Lincoln wore the night he was assassinated and the Greensboro, N.C., lunch counter where four black college students protested segregation by sitting down at the "whites-only" counter.

Keeping a little each post in the Christmas Spirit, here is sampling of 5 of my favorite holidy music collections. You can find all of them I am sure at Amazon or on Ebay if you dont have them yet yourself. Enjoy.....

1. One of the advantages to consumers of huge music biz conglomerates is the tremendous music catalogs they amass while swallowing up smaller companies--and thus NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL CHRISTMAS brings us one of the more comprehensive Christmas collections of recent years. With the notable exception of George Michael's "Last Christmas" (Michael sued Sony a while back and is notable by his absence here), this trawl through some 50 years of Christmas pop unearths quite a few gems. Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas," Frank Sinatra's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and Burl Ives' "A Holly Jolly Christmas," to name but a few, share digital space with the more contemporary stylings of Britney Spears, Boyz II Men, and the Big Yard Family featuring Shaggy. The latter's "All We Need Is Love" is one of the more affecting contributions here. The overall effect is instant nostalgia and a decidedly warm, fuzzy feeling, and you can't ask for more than that in a Christmas compilation.

2. This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files from 'N Sync: Justin, Chris, JC, Joey, Lance. These boys can sing! 'NSync put together this album less than a year after their first album. The gorgeous vocals are still a pleasure 8 years later. Tracks include standards with their own A capella version of O' Holy Night, along with some not so popular, but rich songs.

3. You haven't heard "Jingle Bells" until you've heard Barbra Streisand's version. Sounding more like a bebop Santa on A Christmas Album's rousing opening track, Streisand keenly races through the stanzas, toying with the words, pushing the song's tempos, and generally having a lot of fun. After that, she gets down to the more serious side of holiday offerings, with tracks that include "My Favorite Things," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Silent Night," "The Christmas Song," and others. At times this world-class singer can bowl you over with her range, sensuality, and emotion, and when she visits "Ave Maria" or closes with "The Lord's Prayer," it's easy to see why this is one singular Streisand record that has traveled so well for so many years. A classy classic.

4. As the song goes, "Merry Christmas" has already "been said many times, many ways." Diana Krall's Christmas Songs is a worthy--though not particularly unique--addition to the holiday catalog. On it, she excels with an approach mastered long ago: elegant delivery that gives extra polish to a very familiar lineup. Some might find her style frosty at times, but that will come as a relief to those who want their carolers to cut through some of the holiday treacle and create a festive, yet grown-up vibe. And Krall does show off her playful side with little, personal touches. In "Winter Wonderland" she promises to "frolic and play the Canadian way," which should draw smiles from her native land. (That'll mean toasting the holiday with Molson, eh?) Elsewhere, she ends "Jingle Bells" with the girlishly giddy statement, "I'm just crazy about horses." Well…can't argue with that.

5. I know, Cyndi Lauper? Christmas? But trust me, this a FUN album. There aren't many classics on this one, but Cyndi's new take is great. "Christmas Conga" will get you get on your feet and "It Feels Like Christmas" will make you feel like you're in Louisiana. I definitely recommend Cyndi's "Merry Christmas....Have a Nice Life!"

I also usually pick up one or two NEW holiday albums each year, (i know there must be a kewl disease name for it like, "christmobsesive disorder" or something.) My picks for this year, are.....

Bette Midler – Cool Yule

The Divine Miss M lives up to her name with her absolutely divine new holiday album, Cool Yule, which is sure to become an instant classic. Made up mostly of familiar tracks like “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, “White Christmas” and “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve”, Midler’s seasonal offering also delivers new Christmas classics like the title track as well as an updated version of her seminal 90’s hit “From A Distance”. Throughout “Cool Yule” Midler has never sounded better as she swings through this holiday set with the confidence and finesse of the old pro we already know her to be. An all around excellent recording from one of our most beloved divas, “Cool Yule” is without question my top pick from this year’s crop of new holiday albums.

Wynonna Judd – A Classic Christmas

When Wynonna Judd hums, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. A powerhouse vocalist, Wynonna has ruled the country charts for decades now, but as of late it seems that one of country’s biggest stars is looking to spread her wings a bit and A Classic Christmas seems a nod to her new direction. Judd’s first solo holiday album is not the least bit country, but it is restrained, beautiful and, dare I say, sophisticated. On A Classic Christmas Judd sings “Ave Maria” in Latin, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” with the prowess of a jazz legend, and “Silent Night’ with such tenderness that it almost feels like a lullaby. A Classic Christmas is not about histrionics or re-inventing the wheel but it is solid collection of Christmas favorites sung by one of the best voices in the business, which alone makes it a must have.

Dreamgirls Mania Begins, In The News, Blogger Nominations, Captured Cuties

Okay, there are two things where my "homometer" goes off the charts, lol. First when I get into a decorating mode. I have to have everything coordinate just so, and a place for everything and everything in it's place kinda deal. Then there is my typical stereotype number 2, musicals. I really enjoy going to any kind of a play, but a musical just gets me going like nothing else. RENT, Chorus Line, Phantom, Le Mis, hell, I even enjoyed Chess and Andrew Lloyd Weber's roller skating fiasco. The point of letting you know this is to excuse my gushing over the new movie version of "Dreamgirls", coming out next month. HELLO!! Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, what a dream cast for dreamgirls. We are just one day away until Beyonce's version of "Listen" is being launched on MTV at 3:30 on TRL. You have to see this performance if you missed her singing it on Oprah!! I am soooo looking forward to this movie, and I will talk more about it as it gets closer to release.

A few interesting things IN THE NEWS............and who wasn't waiting for this to happen, Police Investigate Haggard's Gay Whistleblower; quick, lets make them sorta equal before they become full equal, N.J. Conservatives Try End Run Around Gay Marriage; it's good to see the "experts" on our side, God forbid they listen to someone qualified, Constitutional Experts Call For Overturn Of Ban On Gays In Military; and finally, the first battle for equality to be "Webcast", Maryland Supreme Court To Hear Gay Marriage Case.
