Happy Saturday, Juggling My Schedule, Another "Fughumism", and Daily Eye Candy

Hello blogger Friends!! This weekend is pretty much dedicated to getting the website updated by tomorrow, so not much of a post from me. Hope you all are starting off the weekend well. It's 90's and too damn humid here in NE Ohio, and is supposed to continue this way until next Friday. Thank goodness for Malls and dollar movie theatre's, or your friendly neighborhood Gay Guru would be melting. (no air conditioning in the apt.) The radio gig last night was a blast. I got to move buttons, and turn gizmo's and even record an upcoming promo spot with the DJ. He showed me some kewl editing software the station uses, one is called Adobe Auditions, and the other is Cool Edit. Has anyone ever heard of those before. I am hoping they are not professional grade price tags attached to them. If fellow blogger friends with podcasts out there have a good software to recommend, send an email or post a comment about it and I would be forever grateful.

Have you ever overwhelmed yourself with so many projects at once that you just start to shut down?? Here's what I have going on right now: The Gay Guru blog and website which is priority 1, training and work which should be priority one, but is actually priority 2 for me, Watching out for Mama and rehabilitating Papa Guru is priority 3, Str8 Mate and best bud Jay and I have 2, count em, 2 website projects that we are expecting to launch very soon which are priorities 4 and 5, two personal websites I have been trying to get launched that are having major technical programming difficulties that are priorities 6 and 7, and my daily feedback and blog reading which usually fluctuates between priority 1 and 5. Did you notice that silly things like sleep, laundry, housekeeping, dating, etc. arent even a priority right now, jeeeesh. I gotta say, I am loving every minute of my busy life, but it does get challenging and overwhelming now and again. I really do appreciate all of your support and patience as the Gay Guru continues to grow and evolve to the community I have envisioned for itself in the future. Big thanx to Jay and Mikey and Bruce, and fellow bloggers, who help out with ideas and editing when they can. Around the first or second week of September I am planning a 4-7 day vacation and will be looking for someone to step in as guest blogger while I am gone. Anyone interested, leave a comment or email me here at the Gay Guru.

Today's "Fulghumism" is all about the 'gummy lump', and I dedicate it to people like blogger friend Adamant Sun, and others with children.

"Once it was a shoebox, decorated and given to me by the oldest child. Then it became a repository of other relics of childhood given to me by the younger children. The shoebox became my treasure chest in time. It's components were pretty standard : Three colors of construction paper, faded now, aluminum foil, orange tissue paper, several paper doilies, three kinds of macaroni, gumdrops, jelly beans, some little white hearts that taste like chalk (with the words on them), and the whole thing held together with a whole lot of white library paste.

Anyhow, this shoe box isn't looking too very good now, it's a little shriveled and kind of moldy where the jelly beans and gumdrops have run together. It's still sticky in places, and most of it is more beige now. On folded and faded and fragile pieces of large-lined school paper, there are words: "Hi daddi" and "Hoppy valimtime" and "I lov you". A whole big lot of "I lov you". Glued to the bottom of the box are 23 "x's" and "o's", made out of macaroni. I've counted them more than once. Also scrawled in several places are the names of three children. The treasures of King Tut are nothing in the face of this.

Have you got something around the house like a "gummy lump"? Evidence of love in it's most uncomplicated and most trustworthy state? You may live a long, long time. You may receive gifts of great value and beauty. You may experience much love. But you will never believe in it quite as much as you believe in the gummy lump. It makes your world go round and the ride worth the trouble.

The three children are grown up now. They still love me, though it's harder some times to get direct evidence. And it's love that's complicated by age and knowledge and confusing values. Love to be sure, but not simple. Not something you could put in a shoebox.

This sticky icon sits on a shelf at the top of my closet. Nobody else knows it's there, but I do. It's a talisman, a kind of cairn to memory, and I think about it every morning as I dress. Once in a while I take it down from the shelf and open it. It is something I can touch and hold and believe in, especially when love gets difficult and there are no small arms around my neck anymore. I have no apology. The Gummy Lump stands for my kind of love. Bury it wih me. I want to take it as far as I go"

A little eye candy to make your weekend oh so sweeter..enjoy blogger friends..GG
